About the Artist: Jiwon Kwon
I am an artist based in UK, focusing on the directness of line and the philosophy of empty space. My work is a bridge between the traditional Korean aesthetics I studied and the modern spontaneity of dip pens.
The Art of the Line
Every stroke is permanent and unplanned. I work without any pencil sketches, allowing the ink to find its own rhythm on the paper, embracing the beautiful imperfections of the process.
Embracing Empty Space
Inspired by the 'beauty of emptiness(Yeobaek)' in Eastern art, I use the white paper not as a void, but as an active element of the composition, creating a sense of balance and tranquility.
